Vaccines have long been a reliable health approach for preventing many diseases. In addition to prevention, vaccines are increasingly being developed for therapeutic purposes. The current emphasis on developing both preventive and therapeutic vaccines highlights the necessity of new vaccine research, especially in the wake of the recent pandemic, which has reinforced the importance of vaccination.
Given that vaccines are strategic products and considering our country’s infrastructure in this area, it is crucial to take initial steps toward restarting vaccine production in Turkey. This involves establishing a skilled workforce and production capabilities. Vaccine development efforts are rapidly advancing globally and within our country through various methods and disciplines.
In this context, promoting vaccine production using national resources and training experienced personnel in Turkey is of utmost importance. The significance of countries being able to produce their own vaccines has become increasingly clear, emphasizing the need for local vaccine production initiatives.
